The Winter Deaflympics 2024 is currently underway in Erzurum, Turkey, under the auspices of International Committee of Sports for the Deaf (ICSD).

Our ICCD President, Phillip Gardner, is the official Tournament Director [TD] running several chess tournaments with approximately 100 deaf chess players from all over the world.

On Sunday 3rd March 2024, there was Chess Blitz Men –

1. IM Pawel Piekielny {POLAND} 9.5/11
2. FM Bogdan Bozinovic {CROATIA} 9/11
3. FM Dragan Zivic {SERBIA} 8/11

61 men from 15 countries in all participated.

There was also Chess Blitz Women – 33 participants from 11 countries –

1. Anastasija Parhomenko {LATVIA} 8.5/11
2. Zuzanna Lukasik {POLAND} 8/11
3. Viktoria Cseke {HUNGARY} 8/11
