History for Chile – the Junior Girls title goes to South America!
History was made when Chile claimed the Junior Girls title, thanks to the exciting player, Valeska Alejandra Rozas Lazcano who edged out India’s Yashaswi Kuduman in an exciting final.
This competition had only five girls but from three continents yet the five rounds were fiercely contested throughout. It was most unusual that four players ended up first equal with 2.5 points! The four players proceeded onto the elimination stages, and this was when the Chilean prevailed
The exciting Kazakstan player, Balzhan Dzhumagazyyeva, trained by Almash Nuzerova, edged out Lithuania’s Ugne Grybayskaite, again a pupil of Egle Marcinkevience, for third place.
Spare a thought for Kyrgyzstan’s Sabina Karybekova who, despite losing all her games, remained cheerful throughout – what an inspiring player!
All the players are to be praised for playing their part in this competition – their group text were indeed hilarious! Thanks to the chief arbiter Sirojiddin Zaynidinov for his impressive work in overseeing this competition.
